Lona Philipose

Words, Stories & Reflections

My name is Lona Philipose and this is what goes through my head

Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, now finding my way in Dublin, I am a 22-year-old master's student and a part-time waitress at Eddie Rockets. For someone who struggles and hates vocalizing words, I enjoy playing around with it to form stories and verses. I fell in love with journaling during Covid and haven’t stopped since.

A little more about me

I was born to high school lovebirds Philipose and Jaya in a beautiful and predominantly hot city called Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the 19th of November 2002. Legend has it my second sister (Lidiya) wasn't entirely happy with the idea of no longer being the younger one and was bitter (sure she's fine by now).

I did my high school at Int'l Indian School, Jeddah, and Al Wurood School, where I met some of the best people in the world, whom I hold dear.

I was quite the happy and attentive child growing up, who wasn't much of a talker. Which is weird considering the fact that both my parents are extreme socialites. I enjoyed music, which eventually became a focal point in my life. My first boy band obsession was the Jonas Brothers and I still remember my tears of joy when I was presented with their merch (a journal book). I'm not picky when it comes to music. I'm happy with anything that makes me sad and sometimes think. Hozier tops the list. He's also a subconscious reason why I chose Dublin for my masters (don't tell my parents that).

I moved to Kerala, India, for my undergrad, and the first year was horrible. I missed Jeddah, my friends, and everything was dark. It was also the beginning of Covid. This is precisely when I took my miseries to journals and writing and I haven't looked back since. I then moved to Dublin three years later for my master's, and needless to say, it was the best decision I've ever made. Sure, there are days when I question my choice but every step is totally worth it. Studying in UCD brought me the opportunity to meet and work with people from all around the world, get interviewed by top companies and work as a student consultant.

When I'm not in the corporate spotlight, you'll find me taking a stroll on the beach (Dun Laoghaire is my current spot) with my journal and adult coloring book, probably listening to a slow tune. So yes, that's a little about me. Thank you for stopping by!

Feelings that didn’t fit into conversations. Things I couldn't tell anyone else. Things that somehow, unbeknownst to me, turned to verses and stories. My poetry and writings.

My career, so far.
